THE BOBBY GOLDSBORO SHOW
“THE BOBBY GOLDSBORO SHOW”  was a highly-rated, 30-minute syndicated television variety show that ran for 3 seasons, from 1973-75, with some stations airing reruns in 1976. The program, from Show Biz Productions, was filmed on Stages 31, 41 and 43 at CBS Television City Studios in Hollywood.  Bill Graham was the Executive Producer, and the show was produced by Bill Hobin, Jane Dowden and Reg Dunlap.  Ed Hider was a writer, with Hobin the director.  The band consisted of pianist Timmy Tappan, guitarist Tommy Tow and drummer Jan Kurtis.  Much of the music, including by the guests, was sung live with backing tracks pre-recorded in Nashville by Bobby and the band.  Some production was done at WLAC/WTVF studios. The show featured Peter Cullen (the voice of “Optimus Prime” in the “Transformers” movies and television shows) as the voice and operator of characters Calvin Calaveras (Season 1), Helmet (Season 2), and Jonathan Rebel (Season 3). Each show featured an opening song from Bobby.  The middle two segments generally each included a song from that episode’s guest star, along with songs from Bobby and a comedy segment with one of Peter Cullen’s characters.  The final segment was Bobby talking with the guest, and often performing together. A DVD of Bobby performing his biggest hits on the show is available through his official website.  Click here for details.
